As many as 137 units of blood was collected during the annual blood donation drive ‘Sanjeevini’ held here on June 15. The drive was organised by AIMIT in association with district Wenlock hospital and Indian Red Cross Society.
Inaugurating the blood donation drive, Director Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto said. “When a person donates blood he/she can save at least two or three lives. In India over 40 crore people can donate blood, but only 2 per cent donate. It is the young people who are eligible to donate blood. Therefore, I urge students to make it a practice to donate blood whenever there is a need or voluntarily once a year.”
Dr Beena Dias was the faculty coordinator, and Rowena Pinto and Apoorva were the student coordinators for the blood donation camp. Dr Rajani Suresh, Dean of MBA, and Dr (Fr) Kiran Cotha SJ, Finance Officer, and other faculty members and students were present.
