Fr Menezes said that it was important to work hard and pursue one’s passion. “Do not be discouraged by failures. Only the one who has experienced failure knows the value of success,” he said.
Mentioning an example of guru and disciple, he said that as the disciple achieved his goal of climbing mountains by constant determination and focus, so should the efforts of every student. Additionally, Fr Menezes congratulated all the Aloysians for raising the Aloysian flag from a College to the Deemed to be University level.
The Guest of honour was Fr Denzil Lobo SJ, former director of AIMIT. He called upon students to grow in communication skills and emotional intelligence. He also said that the future will be of generative AI and machine learning.
In his presidential address, Director Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto SJ focused on the importance of information technology and the internet in the present society from a global perspective.
Later during the day, the following were the events conducted:
• 14 teams participated in the paper presentation event Infographics, headed by Mrs Vanita and Dr Jeevan Pinto.
• In the website designing event Byte blitz, 25 teams participated. The event was headed by Dr Santhosh B and Mr Aravinda Prabhu who also judged the event.
• Thirty-one teams participated in the Quiz competition Tech Trivia, headed by Dr. Ruban and Mrs Suchetha.
• The model making event, Model Mania, had six teams. The event was coordinated and judged by Dr Srinivas B. L. and Dr Shine P. Varkey.
• Twenty two teams participated in the Gaming event Quantum clash, headed and judged by Dr Roshan Suares.
• The cultural event Fusion Fete had six teams. The event was coordinated by Dr Rakesh Kumar and Mrs Annapoorna Shetty and the event was judged by Mrs Pearl D’Souza and Dr Poulami Saha.
Dr Charles V. Furtado, Director, Administrative Block, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), was the chief guest at the valedictory programme. Winners were awarded cash prizes and mementos. Dr Srinivas B.L. and Dr Shine P. Varkey were the coordinators of InfoVision 2024.
