AIMIT celebrated Onam on August 19, under the title ‘Nallonam 2K24.’ The students organized the event with great enthusiasm and joy, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The campus was adorned with traditional flower arrangements known as Pookkalam, adding to the festive atmosphere. A traditional procession featuring the Shingarimelam drum roll led the dignitaries, staff, and students into the event. The programme began with a silent prayer in memory of the victims of the recent Wayanad floods.

The dignitaries, along with the student coordinators, lit the lamp in the spirit of the celebration. Rev. Dr. Roshan Pereira addressed the gathering about the significance of Onam and its traditions, stating that “Onam brings the spirit of unity and brotherhood among all.”

The programme included cultural performances that captured the essence of Onam, such as a graceful Thiruvathira dance performed around a lamp. Melodious Onam songs further enhanced the festival’s spirit, while a dramatic and surprising portrayal of King Mahabali highlighted his significance.

The festivities continued outdoors with a traditional Shingarimelam and tug-of-war competitions, and traditional sweets like Holika and Payasam were distributed to all attendees. The dignitaries for the event included Rev. Dr. Roshan Pereira, Assistant Hostel Director; Dr. Rajani Suresh, Dean of MBA; and Dr. Hemalatha, Dean of IT.
