Monthi Fest, the Nativity of Mother Mary (Mother of Jesus), was celebrated at AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University), on September 7. The statue of infant Mary was carried in a procession after the faithful honoured Mary with flowers.
In his homily, Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto SJ, Director AIMIT, called upon the faithful to take inspiration from Mother Mary who was an embodiment of God’s grace on earth. “She was an ideal mother who offered to God mysteries that she found difficult to comprehend. She also had a sensitive heart through which she reached out to those in need. And as much as she was mother of Jesus, she was also his most ideal disciple, for she did the will of God in her life and all that Jesus stood for, she put into practice in her life,” Fr Pinto said.
Students of AIMIT joined the choir which was coordinated by Dr Rowena Wright. New corns were blessed at the celebration. After the mass, traditional payasam and sugarcane were distributed to all.
