St Aloysius Institute of Management and Information Technology (AIMIT), St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, and the Association of ICSE and CBSE Schools (AICS), conducted a two-day workshop on July 17 and 18 on leadership for CBSE and ICSE Schools. The workshop was to enhance leadership abilities in school principals and help them manage the challenges in the current environment. The workshop was organized by the Management Development and Consulting Center (MDCC) of AIMIT at their Center at Beeri.
The programme received an enthusiastic response with the participation of 56 principals from Daskhina Kannada Schools. Fr Denzil Lobo, director, AIMIT, inaugurated the programme with a meditation session and prayer and welcomed the participants highlighting the need for such programs. Vidyavantha Acharya welcomed the gathering and spoke about the need for principals upgrading their skills every year to effectively lead their schools. Rajendra Desai, Dean, MDCC, introduced the programme and the resource persons who would be conducting the individual sessions over the two days.
The programme consisted of sessions by Rayan D’Souza, faculty, AIMIT, on leadership and teams and communication at the workplace. Vipul Redey, head, School Enablement, Khan Academy, highlighted the resources that Khan Academy could bring to create collaborative classrooms and Fr Pradeep Sequeira kept the principals delighted and engaged with his sessions on listening, caring and understanding people and handling Gen Z.
The day 2 sessions were led by Fr Denzil Lobo bringing in his rich experience of over 40 years of building and leading institutions with his session on effective leadership. Surfraz Hashim, internationally acclaimed mind trainer, conducted very impactful practical sessions on mind mapping. Merida D’Almeida shared her experience of more than 18 years as principal of SMS Brahmavar.
The programme concluded with Acharya and Dr T J Quadros sharing their thoughts on the programme appreciating the quality of the inputs and the hospitality and Joy Rai, past president, AICS, delivering the vote of thanks.
