The final year Students of the MSc (Software Technology, Data Science and Big Data Analytics) went on a three-day industry visit to Thiruvananthapuram and Kanyakumari from October 23rd to 25th 2024. A total of 73 students were accompanied by four faculty members. -Dr Rakesh Kumar, Dr Ruban, Mrs Sucheta Vijay and Ms Shilpa.
The students embarked on their industry visit starting at Techno Park in Thiruvananthapuram. They interacted with Softnotion’s affiliates and CEO, gaining insights into the company’s operations. A session by Ms Deepa, HR from Soft notion, along with an interactive hierarchy activity, enhanced their understanding. Ms Deepa’s talk on organisational behaviour provided valuable workplace insights. The visit continued with a live demo session at Fab lab set up by the Kerala Start up mission, Trivandrum, where the students experienced a real-time demo on various equipment’s that are used for product development like 3-D printing, Laser cutter, Large scale CNC Mill, Vinyl plotter, Molding and casting etc. Later in the evening, the students had an opportunity to visit Kennedys IQ, the largest IT firm in the world that work on Legal care. The students interacted with the Data science team and the leadership team about the project development and deployment. It was a very interesting, interactive session.
Day 2 started, with the students travelling to Noorul Islam center of Higher Education in Kumarakovil, Tamil Nadu. The highlight of the visit was a seminar titled “Quantum Computers: The Dawn of a New Era,” delivered by Dr. A. Shajin Nargunam, Pro Vice Chancellor – Academics at NICHE. Dr. Nargunam, an eminent researcher in computer science and engineering, enlightened the attendees about the revolutionary potential of quantum computing and its applications across various industries. The visit concluded with a campus tour, allowing AIMIT students and faculty to explore the state-of-the-art satellite research center and the academic environment at NICHE. The students were then toured to Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari where they spent some time enjoying the scenic beauty of Kanyakumari.
On the final day of the industrial visit, the students visited Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre Thiruvananthapuram, a governmental institution, where they learned about the various space programs that have been pioneered in India, and the various activities related to ISRO.
The Industrial visit concluded with a great experience of Insights for all the participating students about the Software companies, current trends and perspectives and opportunities that lies ahead.
