The department of MBA, AIMIT hosted an Industry academia interaction series on “Gateway to civil services “ on 09 October. The lecture highlighted careers in various wings of civil services in India, Mr Avinash, Former commandant at CRPF, and Mr Sobhan George Abraham Founder Kerala Samajam IAS Academy, Chennai were the resource persons. The guest speakers were introduced to the gathering by Mr Ronak our first-year student, in the presence of, Dr Beena Dias HOD MBA department, programme coordinator Mr Vinay. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
Over the course of the lecture, Mr Avinash gave a glimpse of what one can expect from the examinations of UPSC stressing on the different areas of prelims and mains exam of UPSC. Give a gist of the areas with suitable examples like – glass ceiling, patriarchy, silver economy, Vikasith Bharath, Indian economy and geography. While Mr Sobhan invoked the need of civil services for India, their roles, responsibilities and power. “Indian political system is undergoing a change and the current batch of officers can be the future parliamentarian as seen with Mr S Jaishankar the External Affairs Minister of Government of India”.
Mr Sobhan shared the different wings of civil services and how the exams are conducted for civil services in India. Highlighting the subjects and weightage over prelims, mains and the final interview. Mr Sobhan concluded by asking students that UPSC is the highest form of Management job an MBA could aspire to achieve and appealing them to apply for it, concluding with question and answers.
