Dr.S. Ruban Associate professor and HOD, PG Dept. of Software Technology received the Sophia Lecturing Research Grant, provided by the Science and Technology Exchange Committee (STEC), Sophia University, Japan. He visited the Sophia university from April 5 to July 3. During his stay in Sophia university, he worked on the research topic “Predicting lifestyle-related diseases based on a person’s diet using machine learning models”. He worked under the supervision of Prof. Eiko Takaoka, from the Department of Info & Com Sciences, Faculty of Science & Technology, Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan.
During his brief stay in Sophia university, he also gave talks on “Clinical ML” and “Role of AI in Healthcare” to research groups mentored by Prof.Tad Gonsalves and Prof.Eiko Takaoka, from the Faculty of Science and Technology. He also attended the “India week” celebration at Sophia university, which was addressed by the Indian Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Sibi George.
As a result of his visit and interaction with various research groups in the Sophia university, a team of researchers would be visiting St Aloysius Deemed to be university during the month of March 2025. At present two collaborative projects are underway in Sophia university under his guidance.
Few more collaborative projects, publications and Faculty Development programmes are being planned in the days to come.
