The MBA Rural Immersion Program was conducted from 12th to 17th January 2025, with 227 students participating. The students travelled in five buses and reached Mundgod and Hangal on the morning of 13th January.

On arrival, Fr. Anil D’Souza SJ, Director of Loyola Vikasa Kendra (LVK), warmly welcomed the students and provided a comprehensive briefing about the camp. He shared the history of LVK and outlined the do’s and don’ts to ensure a meaningful and disciplined immersion experience.

In Hangal, LVK director Fr. Jerry and assistant Fr. Jaison welcomed the students and provided additional guidance. Students were divided into groups and allocated to various villages for their activities. Their primary objectives included:

  • Studying the livelihood of rural communities using a structured questionnaire.
  • Conducting engaging activities in villages and schools to interact with the local population.

The program concluded with a visit to the Tibetan Colony, offering insights into the unique cultural and economic practices of the community. Upon returning to the centre, students presented their experiences through videos and photos. These presentations included reflections on happy moments, challenges, and overall learnings from the immersion program.

This rural immersion provided students with a rich experience of village life, fostering a deeper understanding of rural realities, livelihoods, and challenges while encouraging them to develop practical solutions and social responsibility.
