Students from department of Bioinformatics attended a symposium hosted by C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) held at Pune from February 28 to March 02. The symposium had sessions on different topics including drug discovery, quantum computing, multi-omics, ayurveda and traditional medicines, biological data integration, AI in biology and medicine, and Industry meetings.
There were 43 speakers, including the panel discussion members who talked about different fields. Students also had a study tour at department of Bioinformatics, IISER, Pune where they had an opportunity to see a National Supercomputing Mission funded facility, namely the PARAM Brahma of CPU and GPU compute aggregating 1.7 PF with high performance parallel file system based storage of 1 PB.
The study tour lasted for four days which helped students gain much knowledge in their subject.
