The 78th Independence Day celebration was held at AIMIT, St. Aloysius College (Deemed to be University) on August 15. The Chief Guest of the programme was Fr. Roshan Pereira SJ, Assistant Director of Hostels. The programme began with the prayer song lead by choir team.

The national flag was unfurled by Fr. Roshan Pereira SJ, followed by the singing of the National Anthem. The College Choir group performed patriotic songs to inspire a spirit of patriotism.

In his address, Dr. Steevan Dsouza (Faculty, MBA) stated that “Independence Day is not just a commemoration of our freedom from colonial rule; it is a day to renew our commitment to the values and ideals that form the foundation of our nation.” He also highlighted recent events such as the 2024 Olympics and tragic incidents like the landslides in Wayanad and other places, as well as the heartbreaking murder of a resident doctor in Kolkata.

The Commanding Officer for the day was Ms. Suramya (MCA student), and the programme was compered by Mr. Aravinda Prabhu.
