Nichelle D’Souza, who has represented St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University) at the state and national level competitions and who has won gold and silver medals in shotput, hammer throw and weightlifting events, was the chief guest. After hoisting the college flag she inspired the students through her message saying that the physical fitness and mental health are both improved by participating in sports. She emphasised the importance of regular practice to be successful in life and motivated the students to give importance to sports along with their studies.
The members of four different teams competed against each other in indoor and outdoor sport events like volleyball, shuttle badminton, treasure hunt, football, throwball, tug of war, table tennis, chess, carrom, rangoli and sketching competitions. The team members cheered their teams. Points were allotted to the four teams depending on the performance of their representatives in various events. The trophies and the certificates will be distributed to the winners on the Hostel Annual Day -2023 to be held on February 21.
The events of the day came to an end with Fr Joel Fernandes SJ thanking the hostel leaders for conducting various sports events with meticulous planning and congratulating the students for their exceptional performance in the events.
