Philanthropist Mr Michael D’Souza has been the major donor for the project and family. Arjun Mascarenhas, a social worker and representative of Mr Michael D’Souza inaugurated the project.
The guests for the day were Rector Fr Melwin Joseph Pinto SJ, Robin Rajesh, the proprietor of Isha Sol, Jeeth Milan Roche, environment activist, and Sudheer, engineer of the solar power project.
The solar power project was blessed by Fr Rector. In his address he said that we should all believe in environmental projects. “After the installation of the solar power panels AIMIT has saved over one and half Lakhs on the electricity bill and we have definitely been benefited from this environment project,” he said.
“We want our students to observe these initiatives and to learn how it is done, how it works and what more we can do in order to save our environment and cut down on carbon emission,” he added.
Fr Rector suggested the faculties to speak to students for ideas and experiences which can be implemented for the betterment of AIMIT, environment and the future.
